Husband Derek's taxi is available on request irrespective of the time, day or night. He will pick up and lay down guests of Glendowan House at any of the arrival or departing ports or airports regardless of distance. The taxi is also used to ferry guests to local attractions and activities.

For outdoors enthusiasts there is Gartan Outdoor Education Centre offering courses in all of the main hill, mountain and water sports. Angler visitors to the area are spoiled for choice with three lakes, Loughs Nacally, Gartan and Akibbon all yielding generous catches. There is also a a great variety of walking routes amidst the rugged spendour of the Derryveagh Glens of North-West Donegal. For heritage, culture and history students Newmills Corn & Flax Mills, the Colmcille Heritage Centre, Glenveagh National Park, Glebe House & Gallery (The Derek Hill Collection) and The Fintown Historical Railway are all within easy reach of Glendowan House. A short driving distance from Glendowan House on the road to Gweedore the the Dunlewey centre, Ionad Cois Locha has an excellent range of interests and activities for children and adults alike. Much of the area is situated in the Gaeltacht where Gaelic, the first language of the country, is in every day use, spoken by locals and visitors alike.
